One whole exciting week of NCAA wrestling in the books. Intermat updated their rankings so I threw them into a point matrix to see how the teams are shaping it up.
Iowa still looks like the most balanced team, though they are lacking top shelf championship threats. Ohio St is moving up and I suspect they will continue to do so as their super frosh pick up more quality wins. And if Zain Retherford takes a red shirt season as is now expected, look for PSU to drop down a bit.
Also worth remembering this is a quick and dirty point system, so Minnesota with it’s three #1 rankings (whoa!) would have quite a few more points with tournament scoring. Same for Northwestern and their two #1 ranked wrestlers.
Big Ten wrestling continues to dominate like no other conference.
