2011-2015 NCAA Wrestling Recruiting

Before you read any further, go directly to http://d1collegewrestling.net/ right now and check out all the awesome info that Earl has meticulously compiled and graciously shared with the wrestling community. Especially his recruiting section, which is totally awesome. I’m a big D1CW fan.

Anyway, I shamelessly swiped Earl’s top 150 recruit rankings from 2011 to 2015 and dumped then in a pivot table. Using an inverted point scale of 150 points for #1 ranked recruit and 149 for #2 etc and got the following chart:

Which resulted in a huge lead at the top by Oklahoma State. Very impressive. I figured that might be giving too much weight to the lower ranked recruits, though, so I started narrowing down the list.

Below is just the top 80 recruits each year.

Cowboys still number one by a healthy margin.

So I narrowed it down to just the top 40 and got this:

Buckeyes snag the lead! John Smith must be slacking.

Now down to just the top 20:

Pokes back on top. John Smith smirks.

Now for the bluest of blue chips, Top Ten only:

Big Bad Cael Sanderson. He knows how to reel em in. Well done Lions.

Here’s is the chart of the top 20 teams based on all 150 recruits from the last 5 years.

And here is the list of names for PSU, tOSU and OkSt’s top 10 recruits over the last 5 years.
